2008 Economic Development Corporation Initiatives
Downtown - Ed Sauter, Chair This committee deals with any activities associated with upgrading, renovating, decorating, etc., Mainstreet Mount Vernon. Works with Historical Society, Executive Director and the City of Mount Vernon for resources, research, options, etc.
Highway 30 & 1 - Mike Turner Chairs This committee deals with any activities associated with upgrading, building, renovating, decorating Highways 30 & 1. Would work with Executive Director, City of Mount Vernon, Planning & Zoning & other organizations as necessary. .
Business (New & Relocating) - Dave Ryan Chair This committee deals with recruitment and/or leads for new businesses, helping to relocate established businesses and forwarding information to potential businesses about the community. Would work closely with Executive Director to ensure all changes are noted on Real Estate Tracking list, as well as discussions and keeping current.
Marketing & Communication - Chair This committee will work with Economic Development trends, including conferences, seminars, neighboring counties activities, etc. Committee will discuss how opportunities can work for Mt. Vernon. Will work with Executive Director to share ideas and leads and then report back to MVDC. Committee chair will also suggest and work with Executive Director in creating marketing piece for our community.
Tourism/Events - Dick Thomas, Chair This committee will assist Executive Director in coordinating and creating tourism opportunities (ie, bus tours, conferences, walking tours) and work closely with IDED as well in finding leads for such events. Would work with Chamber of Commerce in coordinating efforts to promote community businesses as well. The main goal for this committee for MVDC is to better the economy by bringing people to our town, enrich our community with new and exciting events, and get people excited to participate.
